Loving Fall Today!

I think I mentioned a few posts ago how beautiful fall was in Maine. Because I grew up here, throughout my teenage years I think I grew a little numb to the beauty of the country-esque features that surrounded me. Now, at 21, I'm starting to appreciate it a little more. As promised, here are a couple pictures:

Up the street from my apartment:
Right outside my apartment:
The last flowers of the season:
Grendel and I went on a nice walk around the neighborhood. I stopped at Chases' Daily to get my signature Soy Chai and then we walked near the water, where there is this old building for rent.
It used to be an antique shop, and then it was a fabric shop but they have moved and now it's just an empty space.

I've been considering opening a shop for Sweet Body in little Belfast, Maine, but I'm hesitant at the thought of how it would succeed. (Not to mention the economy today) Perhaps I need to get my Etsy stats up a little more for the next couple years and then we'll see! I'm also going to start saving money for it. I don't know too much about the retail aspect of business, but I know that there are startup costs! I think I'll aim to save about $20,000. That seems to be about a safe number, seeing as the rent per month for the space is $500.
Anyone have any tips on opening a shop?

P.S Lots to do today- I'm starting to get those promo packs together! Hope everyone is excited, because I sure am! :)

What's in YOUR shower?!

Hopefully, it's me!

But on another note, here are a few of my personal favorites that all tie in at a close second:

MorganStreet- Pumpkin Chiffon Soap

Savor- Caramel AppleDennisAnderson - Blueberry Muffin, soap in a jar
ABreathofFrenchAir- Sun Ripened Raspberry

SunBasilGarden- Holiday set

All of these soaps are amazing, as are the business owners who make them!

Sweet Body Promo Packs!!

I've been collecting loads of responses from the etsy forums! I'll be sending out promo packs that include two free samples of my soaps (you can pick whichever two scents you'd like to sample!) Just reply here, or if you'd rather, send me a convo via etsy with an address to send it to, and the two soaps you'd like to try!

I'll be offering this all week and sending out the packages early next week! Thanks for you responses so far, everyone :)

Latest Update

Yes, it's October. It's beginning to get quite cold now . . . I took Grendel on a long walk around the neighborhood and by the shore and by the time I got home my fingers were numb! What happened to summer? The leaves have started changing, as they do every year and they look amazing. There is one tree Grendel and I walked past on our walk and the half the leaves are bright red! I didn't have my camera or else I'd have taken pictures! I definitely want to share this picture of Grendel, though:
Awwww!!! :)

My apartment is coming along beautifully. I'm SO pleased with it. It's nice and clean and has a great overall set up and "home" feel to it. I love the fact that the windows wrap all the way around it because it's always sunny. That will certainly be a plus when it starts to snow! I found these bowls a while back and bought them way before getting an apartment was even a thought. But I loved them so much I HAD to buy them:

On a soapers note, I've finally taken all the pictures of my new soaps and posted them to my shop! Scents to be on the lookout for:

  • Whipped Vanilla Cream
  • Black Cherry
  • Pearl
  • Pumpkin Cream
  • Tea Time
  • Sugar Cube
Here are a few pictures I took just yesterday:

Pearl:More to come, as well! Once I get my hands on more coconut oil I'm going to bring back my pink grapefruit CP and my blueberry soap, as well!

Finally, an update!

I've been doing quite a bit of work on my Sweet Body this past week. I've got a several new soaps (Sea Moss, Pumpkin Cream, Brown Sugar among others!) but I can't find my camera!
Wahhhhhhhhhhhh

I have loads and loads of photos to take! A few weeks ago I jumped back into making a couple batches of cold process. One of the two batches was banana, though it was made with banana puree! I mashed up about 4 bananas with a fork, blended them in my magic bullet and then tossed them into the recipe! The soap smells delicious! While I added both banana AND vanilla fragrance it smells to me like banana bread, rather than just bananas. Honestly, I wish I hadn't added the vanilla, because the vanillin made the soap a bit brown looking. The lather quality is brilliant, though! The other cold process I made was Chai. It has a nice spice smell to it, which is good for the upcoming season (winter in Maine: break out the long johns and layers of sweaters)

Another lovely update! I've changed my packaging a little bit :) Instead of doing the pink cigar band, I'm now taking and cutting up paper bags and wrapping my soaps in that! At first I thought it looked a little bit too...folky, I guess? But with the label, it actually looks quite nice! The brown paper is a nice compliment to the pink on the label!

My apologies again that my camera is currently MIA, or else I would have LOADS of pictures to share. I'll be updating a bit more frequently!
xx.
